Disclaimer: Different show and yet STILL NOT MINE!
Feedback: This is me being serious for a second. Do you know how much it makes my day for someone to take 10 seconds to tell me that they read my fic and/or that they liked it? Seriously, all you need to type it "good job" or "nice fic" or "that was semi-amusing for a small portion of my life" or even just ":-)". Those responses are all typed out for you- all you have to do it copy and paste them into a response box. 20 seconds, max, and it will make my day, I promise you.
Dedication: To
turquoisetumult for being the first to comment on my fic post (still four spaces!), for making me a friends only banner and for being on LJ for three whole years! Hope you like it!
At this moment, Charlotte Charles is six years, six months and twelve hours old and she is begging. She desperately wants a box of Flaky Honey Honey Flakes for the sparkly bee-shaped ring they advertise is inside. Unfortunately her father, Charles Charles, has recently instituted a 'no sugar cereals' rule.
Twenty-two years later, Charlotte, now called Chuck, sits across from the Piemaker, who does not have such a rule.
“What do you think it means by 'family size?'” Chuck asked, staring at the supposedly family-sized box of Flaky Honey Honey Flakes as she crunched a spoonful.
“I suppose it means that it's enough for a family,” Ned answered, spreading jam onto his toast.
“But how many people do they count as a family? What about the people who have families with nine children? I bet this box can't feed all of them if they each want a decent sized portion! And who gave a cereal company the authority to decide who's a family and who isn't?!”
“Well-”
“And what about us?! We're two people who are eating this box of cereal-”
“I'm eating toast.”
Chuck continued despite the interruption. “We're two people who bought this box of cereal, but what if that doesn't fit into their definition of family? Does that mean we aren't one?!”
Ned was able to slip a word in as she paused to catch her breath. “I don't think family is a number, I think it's a feeling. So if we feel that we're a family, it doesn't matter what the cereal company labels us.”
“This is one of those times,” Chuck told him, “When I wish I could just squeeze your hand.”
Ned set down his toast and smiled his shy/happy Ned-smile at her across the table. “Me too.”

Also, this line: “I'm eating toast.” → SUCH A NED THING TO DO; BEING ALL MATTER-OF-FACTY. ♥
N'awww, Ned/Chuck! This ship will always live on in my heart.
This ficlet was 300 words of adorable! Thank you so much, fluffer! ♥ Great work.

Date: 2009-07-27 03:43 am (UTC)Not a problem! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I loved writing it and renewing my Ned/Chuck love. Thanks so much for commenting on a specific line that you felt was in character: I always feel that my character voice is off. And for reviewing in general!!
