In your own space, rec at least three fanworks you thought you wouldn't like but did.

(All of these are Veronica Mars, Veronica/Logan. Sorry for the one-note, but I have way way too many VM bookmarks that I need to use somehow!)

Okay, fic narrated by a dog? Even one of the coolest dogs since Toto? It’s a cheestastic premise, and not necessarily in a good way. But then [livejournal.com profile] annie_oakley leads you through the Dog Years of a beloved friend and through him we see our favorite characters in his simplistic way of clarity.

I say it in my name, so no one should be surprised that I love fluff. I try to stick to the well-written, believable stuff, but sometimes I can’t help but be sucked into the cheesy depths of a happily ever after. So the title Nuclear Winter gave me pause. Already depressing, right? And the content is equally so. But the writing, the build-up of realism and happiness before the downfall is amazing.

I like my heroes heroic. I like them with their flaws that they recognize and work to conquer, but I do not mind admitting that I prefer a naïvely ideal hero. So Logan doing some Nice Work If You Can Get It for the Fitzpatricks…hated the idea from the start. If I didn’t love [livejournal.com profile] annie_oakley so much, I might not have read it at all. But I do. When someone brings you Like a Rolling Stone, another fic I was nervous about that turned out to be pretty damn amazing, you don’t turn up your nose.

I haven't posted since last week, so I just wanted to put out some news and notes on what's been going on with me:
Firstly I'd like to thank everyone on my flist who commented on my post on the incident at the Holocaust museum. Your interest and compassion are true assets to the world.
Tomorrow I'm going to pick up the finals that I hopefully passed and then I'm going to a pool party with my French class. Our teacher is leaving. We've had her since eighth grade and she was let go due to budget cuts.
I'm in the middle of the last episode of Veronica Mars. I am so sad that I'm almost done. This is a great show. I can't tell whether or not I like Logan/Veronica. I think I do but they're just so disfunctional. He's messed up and I don't see them living happily ever after. I can, however, see them snarking each other til they die. Then again, I can't really see Veronica settling down anyway. Other things I love about the show: its continuity (I also <3 Arrested Development for that reason. Some shows never have follow-up, controversies never come back to bite, old characters just fall off the map...not these shows. I love them because you can practically see the giant plot web in the writer's room) and the relationship between Veronica and Keith (there are some beautiful moments and overwhelming love and loyalty there along with their everyday banter). Okay, done obsessing.
I've been doing a little bit of writing. I hope to get a new Buffy story out this summer in addition to finishing up a bunch of my hiatus stories and the Bones episode drabbles I'm currently working on.
