This comment made me laugh and laugh because as soon as I read it, I went back and read over the last scene and OH MY GOD it sounds like Angel and Gareth are flirting. I cannot believe I missed that when I was writing. It's so obvious when I read it over now! Still, although I do think that in the show Angel was pretty flexible in his sexuality, in my eyes he's fairly strictly Buffy-sexual. Also, general awkward non-Fluffiness if Buffy ran all the way to Wales to see Angel and he's hopping on board the hot doctor express.
(I actually got the sense of taste thing from my dad, whose tonsils grew back when he was 33, so he lost his sense of taste after the second operation. And because I couldn't figure out how to stick in a detailed description of all of Angel's injuries, "no taste" seemed like a very human, easy to understand option. Also I found it really funny to imagine Xander whining about how he lost an eye and poor Angel has a broken tongue.)
I would guess that it was the words "quadruple rosebud" that made you think it was going to be four parts (I was basing on word count, not sections) but always remember the Fluff rule: the happy ending is coming. (Well, other than the few stories when it's not, but that happens so rarely, it's just exceptions to the overwhelming rule.)
I'm so glad you liked this! Thank you for writing a fic that made me realize that I would like nothing better than to write a happy ending Cookie Day fic. :D
