Why am I attracted to this show?

I will preface this post by saying that I hate anything related to High School Musical. I do not have It Takes Two from the Hairspray soundtrack on my iPod because Zac Efron sings it.
So can someone please explain to me why I've watched the preview for Glee four times?! It seems like the same thing! I'm hoping it's cuter and they're better singers, or else I'll have no excuse for selling my soul for this.
